Village Memories

This article was originally published in Welsh; this English version is a translation.

From the snowstorm of 1979 to the annual Boxing Day swim and countless other celebrations, Aber-porth photographer Emyr Rhys Williams has been capturing village life over the last five decades.

As part of the "Age Without Limits Day" celebration on Wednesday 11 June, an exhibition of more than 200 of Emyr Rhys Williams’ photographs will be held at Aber-porth Village Hall.

The event has been funded by the Centre for Ageing Better.

"We want to celebrate the value of the contributions we all make throughout our lives and share people’s varied experiences as they age," said a spokesperson for Ageing Better.

The Aber-porth event will run from 2pm to 5pm, with free entry and refreshments.

Sue Lewis, trustee and project officer at Aber-porth Village Hall, said: "This grant gave us the chance to show Emyr’s wonderful photographs and celebrate the contribution people have made to the community over the years. Expect to see photographs of some of the village’s older residents getting up to all sorts of antics when they were younger!"
